Family in Fredericksburg

I suppose Fredericksburg is mostly known for its shopping and German food and other attractions...not really family oriented things. However, we found an Airbnb near the downtown, with an amazing back porch and pool area, and also discovered lots to do for our long weekend with the kids.

We left on Friday morning and arrived at Longneck Manor, where we got up close and personal with giraffes and rhinos! It was an experience like no other! After that, we ate tex-mex BBQ at Leroy's. It was delicious.

After some ice cream and a short stroll downtown, it was time to check in our Airbnb through Porch Light. It was perfect for our group of 10. We settled in, swam and played, and ate dinner together. We also opted to have our groceries delivered from HEB and that was a great decision!

Saturday we ate breakfast at the house and set out to shop and stroll in downtown Fredericksburg. The boys played with the kids in the Marketplatz park, while we girls hit some stores. We all met up for lunch at Sunset Grill. Good food, but a wait for a table!

It was then back to the house for games and swimming. And some headed to a nearby winery for a quick visit.

That night was burgers on the grill, out by the pool. We were so thankful it was relatively "cool" for a night in July in Central Texas!

Sunday we went out for breakfast at Airport Diner, not far from our house. The diner is decorated like an airport hangar, and there are rockers out back to watch the small planes come and go, as well as a hotel decorated with airplane memorabilia too. This is a fun place! We also headed to an orchard where we enjoyed peach ice cream while swinging outside.

After swimming and playing, we had planned Christmas in July with sunflowers and a pineapple for our centerpiece as a tree. It was so fun, and we had tiny s'mores we found from Target...for dessert.

Monday we cleaned and checked out and headed for an early lunch in Johnson City and then home.

We had brought lots of outdoor games, bubbles and more, and 11 year old Ayla had her own games for us to play which were fun and hilarious at night. The pool was the best, and the house - well we can't say enough good about it!

Thankful for time with family...always.
