Wimberley might be a place you've been just as a couple or with friends. However, our kids just recently invited us for a weekend for the four of us, plus the two littles (ages 2 and 2 months!) and we had a blast. Here's what my son planned so beautifully, in case you need a getaway and kiddos are involved.
We opted to stop in South Austin for lunch on our way to Wimberley on a Friday, and we ate at Oasthouse. It was cozy, we sat by the fireplace, and the food was good! A perfect pitstop to break up the journey.

We arrived in Wimberley before time to check in at the Airbnb, so we visited Cypress Creek Coffee Shop and walked around a bit. The guys kept the two year old outside in a play area, while we girls went inside a couple shops - and it worked out great!

Our house that my son rented was perfect - called Hippie Pickle! It was decorated in lots of color, had a big backyard for treasures and discovery, was super roomy, and...on the fridge was a scavenger hunt list for the kids! Imagine our delight!

We rested and unpacked and then enjoyed dinner (we walked!) at Creekhouse. Walking to dinner with the stroller and babies was so fun.
Saturday morning (and Sunday) my son drove to a coffee house just a few minutes away and got us pastries and coffee, and we enjoyed it around the funky kitchen table in the Airbnb.

There's a place called Pioneer Town just a few miles down the road and it was winter so only the train was open, and the gift shop. It would be great to go back in the spring/summer! However, for our littles, it was just the right amount of time to spend there, so we bundled up and choo-chooed away! We even found a toy to buy in the gift shop before heading to lunch.
We opted to get bbq from a food truck - Kelly's BBQ - and we ate it back at the house. It was delicious.

While the older one napped, we left the baby with the boys and they watched a game while my DIL and I went to town again to shop. Wimberley is great for small shops with super cute clothing and home decor and all sorts of things. One of the best little towns in America!
(We spent all waking moments at the house looking for the things on the scavenger hunt list - so fun!)

That night, we ate dinner at a new Mexican place outside, as it had warmed up a bit, and there were heaters. Nada Mucho was so so good, and there was space for Camp to run around while we waited for our food. Then we walked to get ice cream after (and another toy.)

Sunday morning, after breakfast, we began packing up and still searching and hunting, as many items on the scavenger list were outside in the backyard, too. There was a tiny camper on the list, and a Winnie the Pooh we finally found. And...we accidentally found a fake lizard behind closed doors that was scary!
We were all packed up and had a bit of time before checkout, so we tried playing charades with Camp and whispered in his ear an animal to act out. It was a hoot, and he loved it and we did, too!

On the way back, my son had picked Vista Brewing for lunch - a huge outdoor venue is there as well - and we enjoyed that stop. They had some cute t-shirts for sale!
It was so fun to go on a getaway that someone else planned, and it was not a far trip, and taking the kids was perfect for this weekend in Wimberley!
