Got Kids?

We had the kids for three full days and found so much fun to be had in the Austin area. So if you've got kids this fall, your own or family coming to stay...consider these amazing outings and/or things to do while you're all together!

We started Day One with mini golf at Peter Pan, Austin's iconic miniature golf destination with life-size figures atop a hill, nestled among pretty trees.

Right by there is Sahm Hill for climbing, and an amazing park for exploring.

And right across the road is Sandy's Hamburgers - however, the kids opted for Whataburger! Mostly because it was too hot to sit outside.

That afternoon, we stopped in Cidercade for hours...it's a game place that's for adults at night and families during the day. The best thing about it is it's $12 for an all day pass to play all the games, unlike some places that each game costs and you're out of money in minutes. It's a loud venue, but the kids loved the Skeeball, the old game Frogger, and so many more. It was super fun for all.

And what to eat after a long day out? We had left potatoes wrapped in foil in the slow cooker, and they were ready when we got home...with a baked potato bar and fun in the garage playroom.

Day Two we met another part of our family at a park where a train Cedar Rock Railway awaited us to ride through the trees, and then we went for a burger at Sharks.

After that, we had tickets to Wonder Spaces. Have you been there? It's an amazing huge venue with interactive art that you walk through and experience. Cables from ceilings, letters rolled up and place in little tubes on walls, sounds and visuals galore...and we stayed there a long while. The kids were especially fond of the paint wall!

Late afternoon, we entered the theater to watch Despicable Me 4, enjoying all the popcorn we could eat!

And this night was just a simple charcuterie board and puzzles, back at home.

Day Three was Sunday and we took the kids to church with us, then headed to Laguna Gloria where we first picnicked on the grounds. We had ordered a biscuit and jam box from the restaurant there on the premises. (It was not cheap, but boy was it beautiful and worth the money). We explored the house there and walked the trail of outdoor sculptures.

The afternoon was spent bowling at Bass Pro Shop in their "underwater" alley, while we enjoyed their giant pretzel too. Who won? I don't recall! We also took the boys shopping at Academy for shoes!

It was a packed three days, we got in some good talk time at night - sitting together and laughing and praying over what concerned their little hearts. And we took those concerns to Him.

There's so much to do nearby...and it's all so fun...with kiddos!
